“That Song We Loved, New Singer,” which has begun receiving applications nationwide and will launch this summer, is a survival audition program out to discover a new singer who will sing old songs that touched the nation during the 1970s to the 1990s with emotions of the present generation.
Singer Sung Si-kyung was previously announced as the host while legendary figure of that time period, Bae Chul Soo, along with Lee Seung-cheol, Kim Hyun-cheol, Jung Jae-hyung, Gummy and Solar are also confirmed to join the large-scale project as judges. These singers will give strength to the project aiming to revive songs from the ’70s to the ’90s.
The production team shared, “Top vocalists that the citizens of South Korea acknowledge and love have joined as judges, turning on the green light for the discovery of a ‘New Singer.’
KBS 2TV further announced on June 30th that a large number of original song singers from the 1970s and 1990s will appear in the audition program such as Song Chang-sik, who caused a folk craze in Korea in the 1970s, and Han Young-ae, a singer-songwriter who who made a hit of ‘Nobody’. In addition, Kim Jong-jin of the Spring, Summer, Autumn Winter band who opened the heyday of rock bands in the 1990s, Light and Salt (Jang Ki-ho and Park Seong-sik) who moistened the emotions of many people with ‘Shampoo Fairy’, ‘Blue Sky’ and ‘White’ and Singer-songwriter Yoo Young-seok, will also join the group.
The production team said, “It will be fun to meet legendary singers that are difficult to see on TV, and the beautiful synergy they will create with the participants will give a fresh impression.”
Seungyoon is confirmed to be one of judges of new KBS2 audition program, The Song That We Loved, New Singer airing on July 15 at 9:30PM KST!
On the teaser released on June 23, Seungyoon said “I am honored and excited to be alongside seniors I respect. I want to play the role of a reliable helper who can sincerely empathize with the participants while helping them.”
In another interview, he said “I feel like 7090 songs are full of sincerity. Since I’m from an audition program, I think I might be able to give warm advice to the participants from a slightly closer position.”
Attention is drawn to Kang Seungyoon, the main vocalist of WINNER and an all-round entertainer who not only writes lyrics, composes and produces songs but also acts! With his survival skills built up through SK2, KOMS & WIN, everyone is curious to know what “Judge Kang Seungyoon” will look like.
Seungyoon already participated as a guest judge for Vocal Play where he was well received for providing valuable help from his experience & empathizing with hearts & music of the participants. His fresh perspective occupies a pivotal position among the greatest lineup of judges of all time.
