<Kairos> premiered on MBC on October 26, 2020. It airs on Mondays – Tuesdays at 9.20 PM KST and will be available on Viu Premium with English Subtitles.
Kairos is a time-crossing, fantasy thriller drama that tells the story of a man who falls into shock when his young daughter is kidnapped & a woman who lives one month in the past as they try to save the people they love. ‘Kairos’ comes from Greek, meaning the right, critical or opportune time for action.
Kang Seungyoon will play the role of Im Geonwook who is a weak person who had no presence throughout his school years. However, he will play a major role in solving cases by helping Aeri (Lee Seyoung). This is Seungyoon’s first drama in 3 years since tvN’s Prison Playbook.
Shin Sung Rok (Vagabond), Lee Seyoung (Memorist), Ahn Bohyun (Itaewon Class) & Nam Gyuri (49 Days / Pure Love) are leading cast of Kairos. Its screenplay is led by Lee Soohyun and directed by Park Seongwoo. Filming started in June.

On her way home from her part-time job, Aeri discovers Geonwook’s grandmother mugged in a dark alleyway while collecting scrap paper. Aeri takes her to the hospital and helps settle the hospital bill when she finds out that Geonwook has no means to immediately get the money to pay the bill. Apologetically, Geonwook seeks the BBQ restaurant Aeri works at – but on seeing him, Aeri stops in the middle of cleaning the grill and nonchalantly asks: “Pay me back.”
Is this what it’s like for a person to fall for another person? Since then, Geonwook becomes Aeri’s right hand. If it’s for her, he would do anything.

Oct 20, 2020: KAIROS Kang Seungyoon, “Lee Seyoung is a senior who has acted for a long time. I’ve learnt a lot.”
WINNER’s Kang Seungyoon shares his thoughts on his upcoming MBC drama Kairos.
Kang Seungyoon explains why he was drawn to the script and character of Geonwook, “When I first read the script, I instantly became invested in the emotions of the characters who were each trying to protect what was precious to them, and between that and the fast-paced plot, I had a lot of fun reading it. The character of Geonwook in particular adds to the fun of the drama, and I found it appealing that he had his own story within the plot. I’m grateful that I was able to be part of such a great drama.”
When asked about similarities between his character and his real-life personality, he remarked, “I think we’re similar in the way that we’re both approachable and give off the air of a dependable friend. I think we’re different in terms of the situations that Geonwook has faced or the way he tries not to stand out during his school days. I’m working hard to try to understand and portray those aspects of his character.”
Seungyoon shared, “Because Lee Se Young is my senior by far as an actor, I learn a lot just from watching her act by my side.” He went on to express his gratitude to the actress, commenting, “The atmosphere on set is warm and friendly, and thanks to her, I think we’re building good chemistry.” (Source: Naver)

On August 21st, MBC, through their various SNS platforms, shared first solo stills of Im Geonwook played by our Seungyoon!
In the drama, Kang Seungyoon will be playing Im Geonwook, a long time friend of Han Aeri (Lee Seyoung) who is always there for her no matter what. Though the two bicker often, Im Geonwook always worries for Han Aeri and takes care of her.
In the new stills, we see a wide range of Im Geonwook’s emotions, from joy to playful curiosity to seriousness, and in one photo, Geonwook has cuts and bruises on his face, raising viewers’ curiosity as to what led to the injuries. (Soompi)
