Prison Playbook or Wise Prison Life is a tvN Korean drama series, starring Park Hae-soo and Jung Kyung Ho and aired from November 22, 2017 to January 18, 2018. A black comedy drama, it revolves around the the lives of convicts in prison and the duty officers working in the correctional facilities, as seen from the eyes of the superstar baseball pitcher, Kim Je-hyuk, who is convicted of assault after he saves his sister from a sexual attack.
Kang Seungyoon was cast to play the role of ‘Jal Bal Jang‘ (reference to Jean Valjean), who is a repeat convict, unable to refrain from stealing.
“I actually didn’t have high expectations for Kang Seung Yoon. It’s been a while since I saw him in ‘High Kick,’ and my generation doesn’t really know him as a WINNER member. The role he’s playing is an energetic guy in his early 20s. When I asked him on the spot to read a part from the script using his regional dialect, [his portrayal] was a lot of fun. He really brought the character to life, and that’s why I casted him for the role. I didn’t have any bias because of the group he was in. He just fit well with us.”

He has a special relationship with a long time convict and this relationship is one of the most touching story lines of the drama with twists and a lovely surprise! He is a bread thief who stole the viewers hearts too!
