Just before the final battle of ‘WIN’, YG Entertainment’s founder Yang Hyun Suk announced that he will “keep the promise with the public” when asked what his plans are for the Teams after the show.
The final battle of ‘WHO IS NEXT: WIN’, YG’s real survival program to determine the formation of the next boy group, will be held in Seoul Bangi-dong’s Olympic Park SK Olympic Handball Arena on Oct 25. Before the finale battle between Team A (members consisting of Kang Seung Yoon, Song Min Ho, Kim Jin Woo, Lee Seung Hoon and Nam Tae Hyun) and Team B (B.I., Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yoon Hyung, Koo Jun Hoe and Kim Dong Hyuk), Yang Hyun Suk conducted a press conference.
He told the press, “I was also one of the viewers for the last 10 weeks of ‘WIN’. And I discovered a lot of things that I was not aware of before. Just like the viewers, I grew fond of each member. As time passed, the feelings only grew stronger,” and added, “The final battle is very important. I’m not lying when I say that I don’t know who is going to win. I don’t know what to say to Team B if Team A wins, and vice versa. It is a day that makes me very nervous too.”
About the intention of the program, which only allows one group to make a debut, he said, “We made a promise with the public. The losing team’s debut will be put on hold, or the team may even be broken up. This is a promise I made with the public and I must keep it.”
However, Yang laid out a plan B for the losing team. He explained, “Breaking up the team does not mean they are kicked out from YG Entertainment. They will be trained at our agency to seek another opportunity. Changing or adding members is an option. I cannot say for sure what will happen immediately, as I have to put more thoughts into it.”
He added, “I am also worried that maybe I should not have designed such a harsh program. Whichever team wins, the fans will show different responses. There will be those who would be celebrating, while others are disappointed,” and continued, “However, you should wait until we make an announcement about the losing team. At our agency we don’t simply dismiss trainees or discourage them. So please don’t worry too much.”
Just one of the two teams will seize the name WINNER to make a debut after the final battle, while the other team will be broken up. In the two previous battles between the two Teams, Team A won both, by 2.74% points in the first and 0.52% points in the latter. But Team B’s overtaking could be expected in the final fight.
The final battle will be aired live from 9 p.m. on Mnet, KM, OnStyle, Olive and Daum website. As for voting, text messaging accounts for 60% while Kakao Talk 10% and the game ‘Fantasy Runners for kakao’ 10%. The first and the second battle accounted for 20% each, and the final one is responsible for the remaining 60%, which is the determinant of the final WINNER.
