KANG SEUNG YOON films his first kissing scene in ‘STEALER’ MV
KANG SEUNG YOON, without any prior announcement, releases his new song ‘STEALER’ today (August 14).
The ex-contestant of Superstar K2 and YG Entertainment’s 3-year trainee, KANG SEUNG YOON not long ago released his debut song ‘WILD AND YOUNG’ and kicked off his promotion on television programs. And in only about 2 weeks, he is back with a new song. This is a rare promotion strategy in the music world, so even the fans are taken aback by the news on his another song release.
Personnel from YG Entertainment explained, “His new song ‘STEALER’ has been part of the plan from way back, and the reason behind unannounced release of ‘STEALER’ is to not get it mixed up with the promotion activities of ‘WILD AND YOUNG’. The music video of the new song, which was also completely unannounced, will be unveiled with the song as well.”
The new song ‘STEALER’ steers away completely from the strong and energetic rock ‘WILD AND YOUNG’, and puts an emphasis on a gentle feel. It is a soft love song that sings about a ‘heart-stealer’.
The interesting point here is that the lyrics of ‘STEALER’ goes like this: ‘Silly KANG SEUNG YOON/ I love you too/ and I kissed you’—KANG SEUNG YOON’s name is actually in the lyrics. And another exciting news for the fans is that the upcoming music video has kissing scenes between KANG SEUNG YOON and YOON JIN YI. The very first kissing scene for YG’s rookie artist.
‘STEALER’ is a co-composed song by DEE.P and Choi Pil-gang, who participated in album production of YG artists including BIGBANG and 2NE1. Kim Hee-tam, who came up with golden lyrics for Solid’s ‘Holding onto the End of Tonight’ and Seo Ji-won’s ‘Gathering Tears’, wrote the song.
Starting from the advance release song ‘IT RAINS’ to ‘WILD AND YOUNG’ and now to ‘STEALER’, KANG SEUNG YOON is scheduled to release a mini album in September. His entertainment agency is yet to decide whether the latest song will be shown on television or not.
They are still giving it time to think as the survival program, WIN, which determines the formation of the first boy group in 7 years since BIGBANG’s debut, will be airing soon.
‘WIN’ is a battle-like survival program, in which several trainees of YG Entertainment compete with each other to form a boy group. The trainees are divided into groups A and B, and the winning group will be given the chance to make a debut immediately after the program finishes. The final result depends solely on the viewers, and the losing team will not be able to make a debut for another few years. It may seem cold and harsh, but the show will reflect the reality of the professional music world.
KANG SEUNG YOON, although he was able to debut after 3 long years, will not be feeling comfortable leaving his teammates behind to do his own promotion for his latest music—hence the reason for YG’s hesitation.
Meanwhile, KANG SEUNG YOON will be appearing on KBS Cool FM ‘Yoo In Na’s Let’s Crank Up the Volume’ at 8 p.m. tonight with his YG colleague, 2NE1, to tell the fans many stories and showcase a live performance.
